Storm-Ready Gutter Installation in the Florida Keys

White seamless gutters and downspout on an elevated coastal home in the Florida Keys

Homes in the Florida Keys face some of the harshest gutter conditions in the state — constant salt air, high winds, and elevated or stilted construction that standard gutter systems aren't built for. Rain Gutters by Green Solution installs seamless aluminum gutter systems designed for Keys properties, using corrosion-resistant materials and mounting methods suited to elevated homes. We also work with commercial properties.

Why Florida Keys homeowners choose us

  • Salt-air-resistant materials built for constant coastal exposure

  • Mounting solutions designed for stilted and elevated home construction

  • Storm-season-ready systems that handle high wind and heavy rain events

  • Reliable service for both full-time residents and seasonal/vacation properties

  • Gutter Guards. Protective covers that help keep leaves and debris out of your gutters while allowing rainwater to flow freely, reducing clogs and maintenance.

  • Gutter Cleaning. Professional removal of leaves, debris, and buildup to keep your gutters flowing properly and help prevent clogs, leaks, and water damage.

Protecting a Keys home and commercial properties takes the right materials and the right installation. Call (305) 972-0833 or fill out the form below for a free Florida Keys estimate.

Salt Air and Material Choice

Salt air is the single biggest difference between a gutter in the Keys and the same gutter in Miami. Airborne salt attacks fasteners, screws and any exposed steel long before it affects the aluminum itself, and a system that lasts twenty years inland can start failing at the hangers in a fraction of that time down here.

That changes what we install. Heavier-gauge aluminum, stainless or coated fasteners rather than plain steel, and sealants rated for constant coastal exposure. Copper is also an option on higher-end Keys properties and handles salt extremely well, though it costs considerably more and will patina.

The cheapest quote you get for a Keys installation is usually cheap because of what is holding the gutter up, not the gutter itself. Ask anyone quoting you what the fasteners are.

Metal Roof in the Keys

Most of the Keys is under metal — standing seam, 5V crimp, or exposed-fastener panel. That changes how a gutter hangs. Metal expands and contracts far more than the aluminum run attached to it, so the fastening has to allow for that movement rather than fight it. A gutter screwed up tight to a metal roof edge will eventually work its fasteners loose or distort, and on a hot Keys afternoon you can sometimes hear it happening.

Metal also sheds water faster than tile or shingle. Water leaves the edge of a standing-seam roof with real speed, which means the gutter has to be positioned to catch it rather than let it overshoot the front lip in a heavy band.

We set the gutter height and hanger spacing for the roof type in front of us. On metal that is not the same spacing we would use on a tile roof in Coral Gables.

Elevate and Stilt Homes

A lot of Keys housing sits up on piers, stilts or a raised first floor, and that changes the downspout more than it changes the gutter. A downspout on an elevated home has a much longer drop, which means more water moving faster by the time it reaches the bottom, and more leverage on every bracket holding it to the wall.

Brackets need to be closer together than on a ground-level house, and the discharge at the base has to be aimed somewhere deliberate. Dumping that volume straight onto the pad under an elevated home washes out fill, stains the piers and sends water exactly where nobody wants it.

Elevated construction also means working at height on an exposed site. That affects access, how long a job takes, and what a realistic quote looks like. Anyone pricing a stilt house the same as a single-story ranch has not looked at it properly.

Wind, Storms and Monroe County

The Keys take weather the mainland does not. Wind requirements here are their own thing, permitting runs through Monroe County rather than Miami-Dade, and what is routine to pull in Kendall may be a different process in Marathon or Islamorada.

For a gutter that means hanger spacing and fastening are not a detail to be casual about. A run that holds fine in an ordinary squall is the same run that peels away in a named storm, and when it goes it usually takes fascia with it.

Before each season we check hanger spacing and condition, make sure downspouts are secured and discharging clear of the structure, and clear anything that would dam a run in a heavy band. On a seasonal or rental property that check matters more, not less — nobody is there to notice a problem until it has been happening for months.
